How can we download content during a Google Meet session with unstable internet?

During an important Google Meet session, participants often receive crucial information and links. However, focusing on the session while trying to save this content can be challenging. Once the session ends, this information may be lost, especially if not saved immediately. Additionally, in regions with unstable internet, participants might miss out on essential content altogether.

Research

In the first stage, I decided to review user feedback from both Google Play and the App Store to identify the weaknesses of Google Meet. Therefore, I used a Python code to extract a chart of user feedback.

Feedback

Therefore, I modified the code slightly to extract exactly these comments and to access them as percentages and in chart form.

User Archetypes

Using multiple personas ensures a comprehensive understanding of different user needs and behaviors. That's why I decided to use various categories—to achieve a more thorough understanding of needs and pain points.

User scenario

In order to understand more about user behavior, I needed a more detailed investigation. That's why I decided to examine Maryam's behavior before and after creating this feature. Why did I choose Maryam? Because she lived in a country with unstable internet, in addition to facing content management issues.

Design-After A/B Testing

After conducting A/B testing, I realized that access to the sent content should be more specific by categorizing the content first. Therefore, in the same host control section, I decided to categorize the content into different categories, including documents, links, and chats.

Conclusion

Google Meet is one of the largest platforms for conducting online meetings. A significant concern for users in countries with unstable internet is losing access to the content shared during meetings. This issue, though often overlooked, can be very detrimental. Adding a feature that allows users to download shared content would greatly benefit these individuals, ensuring they can access important information regardless of their internet stability.
